British American Tobacco Bangladesh - Shabab Ahmed Choudhury

Mr. Shabab Ahmed Choudhury was appointed as the Head of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs at BAT Bangladesh, in April 2024, bringing with him a wealth of international experience, strategic insight, and financial leadership spanning over 16 years across Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and the United Kingdom. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a major in Finance and Accounting, graduating with the highest academic distinction, Summa Cum Laude, from North South University, Bangladesh.

Mr. Choudhury began his professional journey with BAT Bangladesh in 2009 as a Management Trainee. Demonstrating exceptional performance and leadership potential early in his career, he was promoted in 2011 to the role of Brand & Pricing Executive.

In recognition of his continued excellence, he was elevated to the position of Planning & Reporting Manager in 2012, marking his second promotion within just three years of joining the organization.

In 2014, he was designated with a regional leadership role and appointed as Treasury & Corporate Finance Manager at Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited, based in Islamabad, further expanding his international exposure and financial expertise.

Following the successful completion of his international assignment, Mr. Choudhury returned to BAT Bangladesh in 2015 to assume the role of Senior Commercial Finance Manager – Marketing, where he played a pivotal role in driving strategic financial initiatives within the marketing function.

In 2016, he embarked on another international assignment, this time, BAT Indonesia, based in Jakarta. Over the course of three years, he held two critical leadership roles: Head of Corporate Strategy and Planning, and Senior Commercial Finance Manager, contributing significantly to the company’s strategic and financial direction in the region.

Upon his return to BAT Bangladesh in 2019, Mr. Choudhury was promoted to Commercial Finance Controller – Operations, where he continued to demonstrate his expertise in financial leadership and operational excellence.

In October 2020, he once again took on an international leadership role, this time as Finance Director at BAT Papua New Guinea, based in Port Moresby, where he led the finance function in a dynamic and challenging market environment.

In 2022, Mr. Choudhury was promoted to the role of Global Commercial Finance – DBS (UK) at Globe House, the global headquarters of the BAT Group in London. In this capacity, he played a key role in shaping global financial strategy and driving commercial planning initiatives.
