Background
Professor Dr. Melita Mehjabeen is a distinguished academic and governance professional with over 20 years of experience spanning academia, research, consultancy, and advisory roles. She holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK; a Master’s in Development Studies from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka; and both an MBA and BBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka.
Her academic and professional journey includes extensive contributions to sustainability, governance, the informal sector, and SME development. Alongside her academic career at IBA, where she currently serves as Professor, she has held leadership positions in the corporate sector, including serving as Independent Director and Audit Committee Chair at Grameenphone Ltd. and Unilever Consumer Care Limited. She has presented research at renowned international conferences and received multiple prestigious research grants, including from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. Her diverse background equips her with a rich blend of analytical insight, leadership skills, and global exposure.
