Background
Mr. Ivan V. Gomez is a seasoned executive with nearly three decades of experience at British American Tobacco across South America, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) and has completed executive leadership programmes and professional training in Legal, Corporate Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs, and Business Leadership.
Since joining BAT in Venezuela in 1998, Mr. Gomez has held a range of senior commercial, legal, regulatory, and external affairs leadership roles. His career includes assignments as Brand Manager in Belgium, Business Development Manager for North Africa, and General Manager for Morocco, where he led business operations and commercial strategy.
He later transitioned into regional and global Legal and Corporate & Regulatory Affairs leadership positions, including Regional Head of Legal & External Affairs for BAT's Europe & North Africa (ENA) Region and Global Head of Government Affairs & External Engagement. In these roles, he played a key role in shaping regulatory, government affairs, and external engagement strategies across multiple markets, while also supporting Tobacco Harm Reduction and New Categories initiatives.
Since January 2025, Mr. Gomez has served as Regional Legal Counsel & Head of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs for BAT's Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA) Region, overseeing legal, corporate, and regulatory affairs across one of BAT's largest and most diverse regions.
